The South Sands Ferry
Hop aboard the iconic South Sands Ferry for a scenic 15-minute ride along the estuary. Running between South Sands and Salcombe Town, this charming little boat and sea tractor ride is the most picturesque way to travel.

Fort Charles (Salcombe Castle)
Perched on the rocks at North Sands facing the mouth of the estuary, the ruins of Fort Charles, also known as Salcombe Castle. Dating back to the 16th century, the fort is best admired from the water and there is no better way than by paddleboard. However, on clear days the views of the castle ruins from Seagrass are unforgettable.
Overbeck’s Garden
Just up the hill from Seagrass, Overbeck’s Garden is a subtropical paradise managed by the National Trust. Wander through exotic gardens, explore a variety of blooms and soak up the panoramic views of the estuary.

Burgh Island
A little further afield but well worth the trip, Burgh Island is a tidal island off Bigbury-on-Sea, famous for its art deco hotel, Agatha Christie connections and sea tractor when the tide high.
