Founded in the mid-18th century, this family-owned estate is one of the most historic in the Côte d’Or, with ninth generation Etienne de Montille now at its helm. Etienne inherited this responsibility from his late father, Hubert, whose tenure lasted a staggering
50 years. While 90% of the region’s production was sold to négociants, Hubert gained fame for his estate-bottled, long-lived and characterful wines. This generous Meursault is yellow in colour with golden hues. There is a superb freshness on the nose, with intense
aromas of white flowers, yellow peach, nectarine, lemon and subtle hints of toast. The concentrated flavours carry through onto the palate, with voluptuous and creamy notes
of peach and nectarine, a lively acidity and a rich texture, that round off into a long and persistent finish. -

Nicolas Girard has now taken over his father’s 11 hectare estate and together with his brother Anthony is making wines that are fresh, modern and aromatic. Pale lemon in colour, this wine displays aromas of ripe citrus and white flowers, paired with subtle herbaceous notes. Its vibrant and balanced palate reveals the minerality and freshness of an excellent Sancerre.
-
50 Chablis, Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard (Chablis, Burgundy, France) Vegan
(bottle) 50.00
The domaine of Jean-Marc Brocard began as just one hectare, a gift from his father-in-law when he married into a winegrowing family. He has since expanded to 200 hectares, of which eighty are biodynamic, and is widely recognised as one of Chablis’ leading producers. The approach is one of minimal intervention in both vineyard and winery. The nose is precise, pure and mineral, with additional notes of citrus. The palate is classic Chablis: structured, crisp and delicious, with flavours echoing the nose.

-
46 Domaine Amirault Anjou Blanc Chenin Blanc Les Quarterons
(bottle) 44.00
Les Quarterons Blanc has been certified organic by Ecocert since 2012 and biodynamic by Demeter since 2013. Rigorous pruning and regular work throughout the year help to maintain a low yield. The grapes are hand harvested and sorted in the vineyard and again in the winery. The vinification is “natural”, (only with wild yeast) in a stainless steel tank, atlow temperature, between 15C and 17C to conserve all of the aromatic finesse. It is the estate’s most personal wine. It is reminiscent of white orchard flowers, waving above a meadow of buttercups. The lasting flavours are simple and straightforward, and the roundness is simply fabulous.
