About Seagrass – A Coastal Restaurant in Salcombe, South Devon
Seagrass is more than a restaurant; it is a celebration of South Devon’s coastal charm and countryside richness. Nestled in Salcombe, our story is shaped by the rhythm of the tides and the power of the seagrass meadows at South Sands.
Born from a desire to create a welcoming space, Seagrass invites locals and visitors alike to gather, eat well, drink well and feel at home. Our menu reflects the seasons and showcases the finest local ingredients, from freshly caught seafood to farm grown produce.
Our History
Once known as South Sands Hotel and Restaurant, Seagrass has evolved into a destination for coastal dining in Salcombe. Inspired by our natural underwater meadows, we honour the landscape through our food, atmosphere and commitment to sustainability.
Meet the Chef
Our Head Chef Jonathan brings a passion for South Devon’s land and sea. With experience in some of the UK’s leading hospitality groups in London and Bristol, he now leads our dedicated kitchen team with a focus on seasonal, flavour filled curated dishes. Jonathan is known for his beautifully presented plates and his love for sharing the stories behind the ingredients.

We believe great food starts with great ingredients. That is why we source as much as possible from the West Country, from freshly caught fish to handpicked produce. Located in the heart of the Salcombe’s famous crab harbour, we know seafood at its best.
The Hotel
Seagrass is part of South Sands Hotel, Salcombe; an independent coastal retreat on the beach in at South Sands.
